I have had projects with a sequence setting of 29.97 FPS (drop frame) and the addition of a file at 30 FPS (non-drop frame) will cause the "unknown error" on export. The thing here is that I was editing from my notebook since I'm on a trip, and I set my external HD as my default scratch disk for premiere.

I nested the sequence (because the photos were all on separate tracks), then added another dissolve to the nest, and Premiere didn't like that one bit. (Why did I add an Use the Link Media orLocate File dialog box to locate and relink offline media, bringing them back online for use in your project. So my work around for mine was to go into the nested sequences and copy all the layers I was using and then pasted them overtop of the nested sequence, being I might possibly have figured out the cause of these errors, which are killing my productivity.
That also needs to be fixed.
