The only way to fix the problem was to remove the menu from the project, re-import, then re-link all the buttons and assets of the menu. I have heard people who use alternate media players (such as Windows Media Player Classic), which installs a large variety of codecs/decoders such as ffdshow, can cause issues with Encore.
